How many species do we keep?
30 - 50 species, subject to availability

How long do they live?
4 weeks is an average life span. A few species feed on pollen and can live upto 8 months.

What do butterflies live on?
Nectar and pollen from flowers, also juices, water, rotting fruit, and salts and minerals, usually obtained from the pathway.

Where do we get butterflies from?
As pupae from the jungles of the Far East and Central/South America. Also in-house breeding

What species are the birds?
We have Java Sparrows and Zebra Finches

What other mini-beasts?
Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches, Red-Kneed Tarantula, Chinese Water Dragon, Maclay's Spectre Stick Insects & various fish.

How active the butterflies are depends on the amount of daylight, sun, humidity and time of day. On days of low light they may be less active and they also need periods of rest - as does any creature.
